SIP Trunking Deals for Businesses

SIP Trunking is a method of making telephone calls over your IP connection (utilising your data network), as opposed to over traditional phone lines. A SIP Trunk is a virtual phone line that connects your phone system to the public telephone network. It sends the data over a network, as opposed to an ISDN circuit.

You can use SIP Trunks instead of ISDN circuits to carry all of your telephone calls, or alternatively, SIPs can be used in conjunction with an ISDN circuit if required.

With SIP Trunking, you can leverage your existing data connection, which means that you don't need to spend money on ISDN monthly line rental. You can also expect to see reduced call costs too, as calls sent over the internet are much cheaper than traditional telephone calls.

SIP Trunking is also more convenient, as provisioning can be implemented instantly which means that you don't have to wait for circuits to be installed. SIP Trunking is also scalable, so you can have as many as you want.

SIP Trunking is also incredibly flexible as it allows you to market your business locally around the UK, means that you can take your numbers with you if you move and you will also be able to have your telephone calls diverted to an alternative site in the event of an emergency.

In order to set up SIP Trunking, you will require a SIP-ISDN Gateway to work in conjunction with your existing ISDN interface of your existing phone system. This ultimately acts like a translator between your SIP and the ISDN interface of your phone system.

SIP trunking costs are dependent on a variety of factors, including equipment and setup costs, monthly required costs and the provider you decide to use. Typically, you will pay an up front cost to your SIP Trunk provider, and you may also need to pay for a SIP ISDN gateway too.

However, despite these initial costs, you can expect to save money in the long term via your connectivity (owing to the SIP data connection being cheaper than an ordinary ISDN circuit) plus you will also save money on the cost of your calls and line rental too!
